CARE QUALITY COMMISSION (CQC) REGULATOR’S LETTER RE: EXPERTS BY EXPERIENCE AND PUBLIC LISTENING EVENTS

Welcome to the CQC Action team

04 April 2014

Dear ,

Thank you for completing our online form to join the CQC Action Team.

We know that some of you completed the form some time ago and we are very sorry that we haven’t been able to come back to people as quickly as we would have liked.

The Action Team is a community made up of volunteers who have come forward to offer their skills to help make sure health and social care services are safe, compassionate and high-quality. You are part of that community and by working together you can help us realise this vision.

As you know, there is currently a pause on the application process to become an Expert by Experience (our name for people who are trained to take part in our inspections), but regulation is not just about inspection and there are many other ways you can help us make health and social care services better. We will be in touch soon with a communication to the whole team with an update about what’s happening at CQC and the different ways you can get involved. In the mean time, we would like to tell you about the following:

Help us: Public listening events

As part of our new inspection programme we are planning our next round of public listening events so people can share their experiences of using their local hospital with our inspection teams. The next listening events are:

  • Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust
  • Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • Medway NHS Foundation Trust
  • North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust
  • East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust
  • United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust

You can read more about these events here. We’re hoping you can help us by either attending an event or by spreading the word that they’re happening with your friends and family who live in the relevant event’s local area. We’re doing this because we want to hear about the experiences of people who use the hospital in order to inform our inspections.

Help us: CQC Action Team newsletter We are in the process of developing a monthly newsletter for the Action Team which will include updates on our work and provide you with information about how you to get involved in certain projects. If you have an ideas about what information you would like included in this newsletter please email you ideas to: CQCActionTeam@cqc.org.uk.

Yours sincerely

The CQC Action Team
