Aims of this Site
This website is dedicated to the memory of Reneé Dewey.
And created by her daughter, Katie Warren and son-in-law Kevin in her name.
This website aims to transmute the fear, pain and suffering our elderly mum, and we, have experienced as a family into positive action for all the elderly elderly and their unpaid carers/carer families in Essex.
We want to harness the might of the collective public voice. Please forward your stories about the care vulnerable elderly people receive – good and bad so others can benefit from these experiences, supporting each other, focusing on what needs to change and building on what is working.
Please add your story or experience now – details on how to are below. If you give these anonymously, we at WhereIsTheCare still need to know who you are, but your details will not however be published. (See Disclaimer for further details).
All stories will be shared for the benefit of the vulnerable elderly and their carer families. We will use this data to rise awareness and effect positive change with authoirites. Your stories will encourage others to come forward, so please don’t hesitate, they do not have to be blow-by-blow accounts or be perfectly written, just as you would tell us if you were speaking to us.
Which many of you are doing as we stand in shopping centres and high streets in Essex!
We are gathering stories and experiences, talking about what will be visible on this website:

IT WILL BE A SITE THAT IS CONTINUALLY UPDATED FOR YOU TO LOG INTO EVERY WEEK!
We are passionate about vulnerable elderly people’s care in Essex. We wish our website to be responsive to local communities’ expressed needs, harnessing the voices of the unheard. The people that don’t traditionally come forward.
We are utterly independent. You can trust us to give us your story. When a family’s expectation and trust has been abused, when they have been traumatized by a painful care experience, when they have raised genuine concerns, or called for information and they feel they haven’t been listened to, it is hard for the authorities to convince people theirs is not just another “token effort” when they say they want to listen.
It takes a lot of energy to speak out, unpaid care-givers don’t want to feel what they are feeling when a bad experience has affected their loved one, they don’t want to believe this experience has happened to their loved one and themselves, this experience of unacceptable care drains energy. The emotional pain caused by these experiences contaminate a family’s life. No-one understands unless they have been there – and we have.
Stories and comments received including “real-time” experiences will allow us, to engage with, but not beholden in any way to, the authorities to identify and tackle problem areas as a matter of priority.
Additionally we aim to provide pertinent and easily understandable information in one place stemming from a sharing of experiences and information. Continually updated with interesting, new and/or topical information creating awareness and enabling choice. Nurturing a community of knowledge.
